Mental Health First Aid: Adults Who Interact with Youth
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program that teaches participants how to recognize signs that a young person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis, and how to provide support until appropriate professional help is obtained or the crisis is resolved.
This course is intended for adults who interact with youth aged 12–24, including parents, caregivers, teachers, educational professionals, child and youth workers, foster parents, coaches, mentors, and community service providers.
Course Format
- Module 1: 2-hour self-directed online learning
- Module 2: 4-hour facilitated virtual session
- Module 3: 4-hour facilitated virtual session
Participants who successfully complete all course requirements will receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate issued through Opening Minds.
Please Note: Course times are listed in Eastern Time (ET). Depending on participant locations, session start times may be adjusted to better accommodate attendees from different Canadian time zones. Any schedule adjustments will be communicated prior to the course start date.
This course is facilitated in an engaging, discussion-based format that encourages participation, practical application, and real-world skill development.
