About the Facilitator
Solinas Elgamal is a Certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Facilitator with extensive experience in counselling services, community mental health programming, and program coordination.
Solinas is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently completing the practicum component of her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She is passionate about supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds in enhancing their mental health, building resilience, and achieving greater well-being. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lakehead University. Additionally, Solinas has completed specialized training in Trauma-Informed Care and Culturally Responsive Practice.
With a compassionate, inclusive, and evidence-informed approach, Solinas equips participants with practical skills to support mental health and well-being in diverse settings. Her facilitation style emphasizes reflection, skill-building, and sustainable helping strategies, making learning interactive, applicable, and empowering.

Course Overview
The Mental Health First Aid Certification is a 2-day evidence-based training designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize mental health challenges, respond to crises, and guide individuals to professional care. Participants gain practical confidence and strategies applicable in workplaces, schools, families, and community settings.
What You Will Learn
Participants will develop the ability to:

Understand the impact of mental health challenges and crises on individuals and systems

Recognize early signs and symptoms of common mental health concerns

Apply the MHFA Action Framework to respond effectively and compassionately

Communicate and approach individuals who may be struggling

Respond confidently to crises such as panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, and substance use concerns

Delivery Method: Live virtual delivery via Zoom

Total Duration: 12 hours, delivered over two consecutive days (Day 1 and Day 2)

Certification: Successful participants receive the official Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, valid for three (3) years

Pre-Learning: No pre-learning modules or self-paced components are required
