Are you passionate about mental health and want to make a difference in your community? The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Facilitator Certification Training is your opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge needed to teach others how to recognize when someone may be facing mental health challenges and how to provide initial support. If you’re ready to lead courses and help individuals in your community, this training is for you!
Course Overview:
- Training Duration: The training spans 6 days (2 days covering the Mental Health First Aid Certification course, and 4 days for the Facilitator Certification Training). Attendance is mandatory for the full duration of each session. Participants who miss more than 30 minutes of any training day will not be eligible to receive certification.
- Format: This course will be delivered virtually using the Zoom platform.
Registration & Enrollment:
- Application Process: Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee your spot in the course. Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email to finalize your registration. Your place will only be confirmed once payment has been received.
- Approval Validity: Approval for participation is valid for 12 months. After this period, applicants must submit a new application to be considered for the training.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for the Facilitator Certification Training, you must demonstrate that you meet the following criteria.
- Minimum 2 years working front-line in mental health and/or substance use sectors (paid or volunteer) supporting adults within the last ten years
- Demonstrated success (paid or volunteer) with facilitating group discussions, training, and/or giving presentations to groups of 8 or more
- Knowledge of the range of mental health services
- Positive attitudes towards people with mental health problems
- Enthusiasm to reduce stigma/discrimination associated with mental illness
- Proficiency in computer programs such as PowerPoint and Excel, and must have an email address, strong internet connection (for virtual delivery) and access to a computer. The course slides are provided in PowerPoint format only. You will need appropriate software to access and deliver the content.
- Knowledge of delivery platforms such as Zoom or MS Teams (for virtual delivery only)
