Informations sur les cours

Thank you for visiting the website for this course.  I am very glad you are interested in learning more about the MHFA standard course that I am offering!!

The Mental Health Commission of Canada reports that one in every five Canadians experiences a mental health problem within a given year. While we often know a lot about physical illness, there tends to be less knowledge about mental health or substance use problems, which can lead to fear and negative attitudes towards individuals living with these problems. It prevents people from seeking help for themselves and from providing appropriate support to people around them.

A person skilled in Mental Health First Aid can make an immediate difference, by providing initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health crisis. This interactive (online and instructor-led) course leads to a certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada and teaches participants practical and evidence-based skills in order to provide mental health first aid.

This 9-hour course opens with a self-directed module (Module 1) that focuses on the information and strategies that participants will discuss and practice throughout the virtual classroom modules (Modules 2 and 3). Course participants are required to complete Module 1 before participating in Module 2 and 3 . The deadline to complete module 1 is generally 24-48 hours prior to the virtual classroom. A specific date will be provided in an introductory email that will be sent to you with all of the course details once you have registered.

Access  information for the self-directed module 1 will be emailed out to you either 2 weeks before the course, or when your registration and payment is received, whichever is later.

To summarize, there are 3 components to this course and they are organized as follows:

Module 1 – self-directed – 2 hours

Module 2 – virtual on a zoom platform – 3.5 hours

Module 3 – virtual on a zoom platform– 3. 5 hours

By registering for this training course, you accept and agree to abide by the attached Terms and Conditions.
